Vegetarian Chicken-Style Seasoning

Many recipes call for either broth, boullion or some other powder seasoning, which could be an essential ingredient to add flavor and personality to a recipe. Many of these products, if you buy them from the store, are made with animal products, contain excess sodium and in many cases contain MSG.

This recipe gives you a home-made and healthy alternative to these products. It can add a nice touch to your dishes while avoiding some of the less desirable aspects of the store-bought choices. I keep it in my pantry at all times and not only add it to soups and stews, but also use it to make broth for oil-free stir-frying.

It's so easy to make, it takes almost no time :)

Ingredients

3 teaspoons celery salt

4 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon dry marjoram

3 teaspoon dry parsley

1 tablespoon salt

½ cup nutritional yeast powder

2 teaspoons unrefined sugar (turbinado, raw sugar, or sugar replacement)

1 pinch of dry savory (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and and transfer to a sealed glass container. Store in a dry place. Use instead of chicken-style seasoning or broth base. This recipe can be doubled or tripled to make a larger amount. Just make sure you store in an airtight container and avoid moisture from getting in.
